Pearson proudly announces the Maskew Miller Longman Literature Awards of 2014
Pearson is proud to call for entries to the eighth annual Maskew Miller Longman Literature Awards.
This year, the awards explore the genre of drama. Pearson invites experienced, new and aspiring writers to submit their unpublished and original plays for children aged 16–18.
The Maskew Miller Longman Literature Awards remains the only literature competition that gives equal weighting to all eleven official South African languages, reflecting our commitment to developing quality literature in all official languages for young readers.
Winners of the 2013 Awards included both seasoned authors, like CM Lubisi, and first-time fiction authors, like Maria Phalime. Eight winners in total were honoured at an enjoyable awards ceremony, held at the Central Library in Cape Town. The event featured an address by award-winning author and poet Finuala Dowling which was very well received.
During the competition, Pearson will host writers’ workshops in various provinces. The workshops aim to provide support to writers, offer an opportunity to learn interesting writing tips and techniques, while engaging with other authors who are passionate about writing.
We look forward to receiving your entry before the closing date on 30 April 2014.
